How To Switch Off Apps On Blackberry

  1. rcranz's Avatar

Is there a way to stop apps from running in the background? (Besides uninstalling it?)

I downloaded an app that runs in the background ("Screen Snapp" 2.4.1.0 by Rad Systems). I tried going to the app permission settings and turned off the option for "Run in background". The app still appears to be running in the background because it runs whenever I hold the two volume keys simultaneously.

That didn't work either. A screen shot is still snapped when I hold the volume keys.

I turned off ALL of the app permissions and restarted my phone. The app still appears to be running in the background because it still responds to pressing the volume keys.

Volume keys are build in the os to take screenshots...
There is no way to turn that of...

The only way to see if a app is still using battery etc is in device monitor

Oh, so the BlackBerry OS already has a built-in screen capture mechanism? How do I access (or paste) the screen captures taken by the OS? (If the BlackBerry Passport already has a built-in screen capture ability does that mean the "Screen Snapp" app was not needed?)

Pressing the two volume keys will do a screen capture. It is saved in 'pictures' app and you will see your screenshot. You can the use the standard BlackBerry editor to crop and play with it

Not sure what screen snag does

Go to Device Monitor > Select Memory > Tap the App that is running and tap Close then Ok.

Like mentioned above, the screen shot ability is built in to the OS. Cannot be disabled, pressing both volume keys is the trigger. So indeed any app for this is obsolete (the power of BlackBerry is that actually a lot of basic functions do not need an additional app, but come with a built in solution).

These screen shots can be accessed through the Pictures app, but they are saved to the Device → Camera folder so if you're going through the File Manager you can find them there.

    BlackBerry 10, Passport signed.

Do a search. I've covered this a few times.
